School Improvement Plan - School, Family and Community Relations

Dear Burr Community,

A Michigan Department of Education Reward school

As part of Burr's School Improvement Plan, we use a variety of approaches to ensure that communications are two-way, ongoing, relevant and culturally responsive.  We work collaboratively to strengthen student, staff, family, and community learning.

Between now and the end of the school

year, I will be posting 4 questions.  Your feedback (response) is important to us and will help us with our School Improvement Plan.

Thank you for taking the time to make

our school a better place for our Bulldogs
to learn and grow.

Take Care,
Mr. Hardy

The first question is:
What do you want people to say about Burr Elementary?

P.S. Parents/guardians, students and staff may respond to our Blog Post.

  1. Burr Elementary teaches students lifelong values, discipline, and the ability to explore new ideas and think independently. The teachers, principal and entire staff are genuinely concerned about our children's success and work hard every day to create a fun and positive learning environment for our children.

  2. I want people to say Burr Elementary is a school where students are held accountable for their own learning and set goals for themselves. It is an environment which promotes positive thinking and making a difference. By believing in oneself and being proactive, anything is possible! Burr staff works very hard to ensure every child is capable of achieving the objectives of the day.

  3. I want people to say that Burr Elementary is an AWESOME school. They treat all students as individuals. They make sure that each student strives to be and do the best that they can. I want them to say that we are a caring, kind, and supportive school.

I think that Burr Elementary is the BEST school in UCS. The staff is top notch and you can tell that they care about the kids. Whatever it takes.....is always their focus.
Kids are smiling, laughing and love to learn in this building. ;)

    from Miss Gronzo's class.....
Burr is a school that teaches their students everything they need to know including life lessons. 6th grade teachers prepare us for life and for 7th grade. Everyone at this building, staff and students go ABOVE and BEYOND. We don't quit when we are tired, we quit when we are done!

  10. I would like to hear people say that Burr is a school with a sense of community. Where students are encouraged to strive for their best and are accountable for what they do. A school where every student has a chance to shine. Where not only academics is given accolades but effort as well. A school where teachers not only care about IQs but also Social Quotients and Emotional Quotients as well.

I want Burr to be the model comparison of every school. The school parents want to put their kids in. The school whose graduates look back and remember fondly.

IMO, there is always room for improvement but Burr is the closest thing to perfect. I love Burr!
